THE CORPRENEUR BRIEF Intelligence for the executive who's building beyond the org chart. Issue #015 | Friday, June 26th
It's Friday. And we're closing out a big week.
Monday, we named the loyalty tax. On Wednesday, we connected it to something real happening in the market right now, the reality that decisions about your career are being made by systems you have no visibility into, and no federal law requires your employer to tell you about it.
I want to reflect on all of that today because I think it's easy to read this week's issues and walk away feeling exposed. And that's not the point. The point is clarity. Because clarity is what moves people from awareness into action.
Here's what I want you to take into the weekend.
The loyalty tax is not a punishment for being a good professional. It's a byproduct of a system that was designed to reward your performance inside the organization without creating any incentive for you to build outside of it. You played by the rules you were given. Most people do.
But you're reading this newsletter because some part of you already knows those rules were written for the company's benefit, not yours.
And here's where I want to leave you this week. I genuinely believe in the future we're building toward. I believe that as AI matures the market will find its balance. I believe the three to four day work week is coming because the productivity gains from AI will eventually make it possible and companies will realize that humans who have space and autonomy produce better high-judgment work than humans who are stretched thin and anxious. That future is real and it's closer than most people think.
But the professionals who arrive at that future with options are the ones who started building now. Not when the reorg hit. Not when the severance was offered. Now, while they have the income, the access, and the time to do it without pressure.
That's the whole point of everything we've talked about this month.
Come back Monday. June closes out and we're going into July with a clear direction.
